Amit is from the city of Chandigarh in India and is a first-year student in the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business Studies programme in Dublin’s Griffith College. He decided upon Ireland as the venue for his undergraduate studies because he thinks it is a fast developing country with a high quality education system and good economic prospects.
First year in college can be a lonely time for international students in particular, but not for young Amit, as he took the wise precaution of travelling over with a gang of eight friends who are also studying in Griffith. They live together in rented accommodation in Ranelagh, an atmospheric area with a long tradition of being student-friendly and situated close to the heart of Dublin.
Amit finds Irish people to be very friendly and helpful and is particularly enjoying his ‘great’ course. His plans for after his graduation involve staying in Ireland and becoming a proud member of the business community, an ambition that is quite open-ended, but one that is perfectly suited to his course which prepares its graduates for any number of possible careers in management, finance, sales, marketing or human resources.
And how does Amit plan to spend his spare time? By getting a part time job. This is definitely a young man who means business!
