Certification

Postby cherry » Thu Mar 19, 2009 3:44 pm

hi i hope you can help,

I did two seperate courses about 13 -14 years ago. One was a City and Guilds childcare certificate and the other a BTEC diploma in social care. I'm wondering if they are still recognised today in any way or are they completely out of date?

I'm also wondering what my best options are for updating these courses, and what accreditations should i look for?

Hi Cherry. Your qualifications should still be recognised. If you have not been working in the Childcare/Social Care area since then, it would be advisable to try and do a FETAC (www.fetac.ie) accredited course. These are available by day and in some colleges by night. It is too early to find the evening class lists yet as they will not be ready until the summer but the day courses would be taking applications now for next September in many of the VEC Colleges of Further Education. If you contact your local VEC, they will tell you where they are. Hope that helps. Miriam
